David Lynch, Gun, C-print, 40" x 30", 2009

David Lynch, Gun, C-print, 40" x 30", 2009

Since this is Art Basel, you should make it out to see some art. At least a little bit. Trust me, you’ll feel better about all the money you’re spending if you do. So, since you must make it out, make it out to see musical visionary Danger Mouse and iconoclastic filmmaker David Lynch pool their talents and reveal the stunning and haunting photographs from their groundbreaking project Dark Night of the Soul at Art Basel Miami Beach 2009.

Dark Night of the Soul is a full-length album and illustrated book, combining the talents of Danger Mouse, David Lynch and celebrated rock recluse Sparklehorse. (google it, you’ll be impressed)

The exhibition consists of over 50 original photographs by David Lynch which are displayed alongside the accompanying soundtrack by Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse. Seven limited edition prints of each photograph will be available for purchase. The exhibition will open December 2, 2009 as the much anticipated kickoff to Art Basel week 2009. Opening reception starts at 8. Look Sharp.

Dr. Dre + Shepard Fairy @ Don’t Sleep | Primary Flight/Blue Print for Space Kickoff Party // facebook event page

Guest appearance by Dr. Dre, Peanut Butter Wolf (VJ set), Shepard Fairey (DJ Set), Ebony Bones (LIVE), Danny Daze, Induce, DJ Y-Not, Linje

Collecting a group of artists whose fame and esteem is matched only by their infamy, Primary Flight is a collective of street and urban painters from around the country that “redecorates” the walls of Wynwood with giant murals LIVE throughout Miami’s Art Basel Festivities. This year the team, lead by Miami’s own bombing maestros Typoe and Books, goes in with its biggest, most aerosol blasting, paint dripping venture to date.

To celebrate, we are doing an equally massive kickoff event. With things being lead by master of ceremonies the legendary Dr. Dre, we will be having Primary Flight artist and creator of the iconic Barak Obama ‘HOPE’ image Shepard Fairey doing a DJ set, Stones Throw hip hop genius Peanut Butter Wolf doing a special video production, LIVE performance by the next-MIA/Santigold-megastar-super-status Ebony Bones, and a 30 foot mega mural being painted LIVE by the crew.

And did we mention FREE DRINKS AND FOOD ALL NIGHT? Yeah, the paint is going to be the only thing getting drier during this jam.

RSVP to or for complimentary admission.

“Yes, you read it correctly. Just in time for Art Basel Miami Beach, Mansion is bringing French electrohouse duo Justice to Miami Friday, December 4.

The pair haven’t really played a proper club set since Winter Music Conference 2007 when they spun at the Fixed/Ed Banger party at Studio A. They’ve made subsequent Ultra appearances, but this will be the first “intimate” South Florida setting in almost four years.

Tickets are already on sale via for $30. Sorry kids, 21 and over only. Doors open at 11.”
