The opening night of OVRKILL will be completely ridiculous. We’ve got a new production partner, new music, and even more bass to pummel your ribcage. Expect SIX DUAL 18″ EAW’s plus the 2 The Social already has (14 total subs!). That’s 4 more subs than the original Bassmelt system! Couple that with The Social‘s newly-installed native EAW mini-line array, and you have a bass-junkies’ dream. Yes, you read that right. We are putting ALL THAT in THE SOCIAL.
Oh, there’s more.
For the kickoff we have Tokyo dubstep don Ajapai! Anyone that’s been following the dub scene knows that Ajapai (born Mori Toshihiko) is making some serious moves lately. Now signed to Excision‘s Rottun Recordings, he’s been releasing nothing but straight fire this year. EP’s like Energize and Detected, and his new track The Core (previews of all below), have launched Ajapai into the who’s-who’s of post-modern dubstep producers, with his tracks and releases gaining massive support from Knife Party, Liquid Stranger, and many more.
Exciting too, is the notion that Ajapai is anything but a PURE dubstep producer/dj (not that there’s anything wrong with that). This spreads out an already appealing soundset, and makes for a very “full” experience regarding his DJ sets. In other words, you can be guaranteed of ‘a little something for everyone’. Previous releases have been issued on Lee Mortimer‘s Wearhouse Records, Aoki‘s Dim Mak, and Calvertron‘s Jack Knife, all some of the most heavily respected electro/crossover labels around. It’s this kind of stylistic variety that enables Ajapai to bang crowds across the globe without ever getting stale, boring, or predictable. Come down to the Social and see him twist and roll genres like musical sushi Sunday night!
