The Rapture is back with their first LP in five years. Busy with Coachella, supporting The Killers, and a host of other big-time appearances/scene-collabs, In The Grace Of Your Love heralds a return to their indie heritage. The album was released on DFA Records September 5th.

We here at SFC love both our acronyms and our indie, so naturally a record label headed by the mighty James Murphy (of LCD Soundsystem fame) would instinctively appeal to us. Some original fans of the band may still be a bit apprehensive, as the album exhibits the same certain slickness and refinement as 2006’s major-label effort Pieces Of The People We Love. It does, however, sound much more D.I.Y. than Pieces, and at times burns with the O.G. garage disco-punk fever of older Rapture, specifically 2003’s Echoes (voted album of the year by pitchforkmedia.com). Truthfully, this is the transitional album that should have been made before Pieces. It’s ambitious and yearning for next level status, yet retains the vigor and attitude that made us fall in love to begin with.
