Mary Anne Hobbs has been instrumental in bringing attention to countless artists and as a host on BBC Radio 1, she was likely the source, directly or indirectly, for the first time someone hearing grime or dubstep, just to name a few genres she’s championed. She left BBC Radio 1 last fall and remains one of the most important names in electronic music. As a female working in two heavily male-dominated spheres — broadcast journalism and underground electronic music — she has risen to the top of both by fiercely championing what she truly loves. Basically, what I’m trying to say is she is the BAMF of all BAMF’s. She will return to the radio in the UK in July to host a weekly program on XFM but first she’ll stop in Miami and return to the airwaves at Vagabond TONIGHT for her next stop on her ‘Road Warrior Tour.’ She’ll play along with Gonjasufi, Lorn, and Take, which are three more artists that I’m stoked to see. Check out the videos below.

Read this excellent interview Arielle Castillo did with Miss Hobbs for the Miami New Times to get some hints to what she’ll be showing us this Friday. Expect an electronic showcase of higher quality than most you’d find during WMC or Ultra week. Nothing but the best in future music to kick off The Vagabond 3 Year Anniversary Weekend! Yeah, I hadn’t mentioned that yet. It’s Vagabond’s 3 Year Anniversary Weekend… I don’t see any better way to celebrate it then dancing, drinking, and listening to great music. Purchase your pre-sale tickets HERE to save yourself some money. Melkat and friends hope to see you around tonight. We’ll have two cameras… so watch out bitches, we’re gonna get you. <3 MUAH
