Worst Fashion Trends of 2008!

As we are saying goodbye to March, I realize that it’s a little late to talk about the trends of 2008, but since smileforcamera.com recently added a fashion section into their already great site I thought it would be entertaining to laugh at our worst fashion mistakes of last year.

Enjoy!

1. Gladiator Shoes
Ladies, did you really think these shoes would accentuate your legs, or your little black dress? No! These sandals were made for Roman Gladiators and should have never been reinvented.
Unless you are planning on throwing a Do As The Romans Party, please keep these things off of your feet, actually just throw them away… right now.

2. Bright Tights
These should have stayed on the runway, where anything is acceptable.

3. Scarves-o-plenty!
Scarves in the summer! Why? It’s hot enough as it is. I never really understood that trend, unless of course the person has some sort of masochistic instinct and likes to suffer. Also just as bad was the over the top layering of scarves that hid the neck making people look silly and frumpy.

4. Maxi Dresses
These are only okay to wear if you are pregnant or can’t afford a real prom dress. Otherwise there is no excuse.

5. Harem Pants
The picture says it all.

6. Over the Top Animal Prints
We all love a nice leopard print bra or cute zebra heels but remember to keep your animal pieces separate and to wear them in moderation or it can be a bit too much. Animal print is something that seems to rotate back in style frequently so it’s a good investment.

And the best (worst) for last,
7. Crocs!
If you don’t understand why these made the list then you probably belong in Disney with your tucked in Florida tee and fanny pack hanging over your gut. Enjoy the smelly feet!

Ugh… I hate crocs. Ok I understand if you’re a nurse and you wear them at work with your scrubs… but people wearing them out and about, shopping and so on? PLEASE.
They’re not appropriate… I’m sick of hearing people’s excuse for wearing ugly things simply because they’re comfortable… there are plenty of beautiful pieces that are comfy…just look harder!
Take a look at our website for some of Toronto’s fashion week pics for what WILL be hot for fall!

I am sorry but are you an idiot gladiator heels were great, and maxi dresses are extremely sexy especially when done with one solid color and detail in the back like full lace, you should specify exactly what you don’t like, you do not like COLORFUL maxi dresses, you do not like OVER DONE gladiator Sandals, you do not like CERTAIN scarves sold, at places like bs urban outfitters but come on how can I take you seriously when everyone and there mama, plus their dog was in flannel and you don’t even mention it….

    Boy, the worst in spades

  4. Ariana says:

Gladiators and maxis are still being worn this spring/summer, and I like them. When done right, they’re very chic!

  5. Julia says:

I completely agree with Jenny…….. the only trends that I don’t like here are the animal prints, harem pants, and crocs….. and still, the animal prints are great in moderation…. everything else, the sandals, the scarves, and the dresseds? I love those trends, and i’m sorry but I don’t really think you have a very good fashion sense.

  6. Scott says:

I totally agree with julia. They obviously picked the wrong person to write about fashion. But harem pants can be very cool and very chic. Only problem being it takes the right person to wear them.

  7. Adele says:

No way! Maxi dresses and the sandals are still in, and if you were the Harem Pants right they look very good you have such a bad fashion sense. Oh well I’m not coming to this blog again anyway. . .
