Hi, I’m Adam. You might know me from dj’ing at Redlight, or formerly Pulp and Bar-BQ-Bar. Or I may have designed some posters for your band, booked them somewhere, or… you may know me as a purveyor of occasional snarky comments on Defame: Orlando that people take WAY too much offense to, probably since I don’t post anonymously.
Anyways, I’m the new “live music/et cetera” correspondant for SFC, here to keep everyone up on things that might fall outside the usual dance night umbrella. For instance: tonight, Lou Pearlman is getting out of prison (not really) to unleash his newest musical ‘creation’ on the world, uhh…Biteboy. I’m not going to post a link, in order to save you from yourselves, but bear with me here…
Fortunately, if you get there early to skip the buttrock, The New Lows are also playing, featuring Mike Levin of Shyster (a.k.a. the greatest punk band to ever come out of Orlando) fame. Tyler Gray, senior editor of Blender, will be reading excerpts from his new book The Hit Charade which chronicles the rise and fall of Mr. Pearlman, who orchestrated arguably the biggest Ponzi scheme in US history, outside of the recent bailout happenings (OH SNAP). It’s at Will’s Pub on Mills at 9. Cover is $5, and there’s free beer til the keg runs dry. Come out early, catch The New Lows’ set, and score some free brewskis.
